To Whom It May Concern,
I spent the good part of twelve months, on and off, looking for a house. I wasn't looking for the perfect house, just something to meet my requirements of two bedrooms, a study and a backyard big enough for my two small dogs. Saturday mornings were spent drinking way too much coffee in the Brunswick Street cafes and scouring The Age for open for inspections.
Early in 1999 I became disillusioned with the whole process. Even though I had a pre-approved home loan in my pocket and was ready to buy, I became increasingly frustrated with the misleading information being presented by real estate agents. On more than one occasion I know I was told absolute rubbish about the condition of the property and other issues.
About this time I contacted a buyers agent that I had seen in The Age as part of a promotion they were running. I agreed to meet with Michael Ramsay and discuss what I was looking for. At our meeting, Michael explained how his service worked and I was impressed with his attitude and courtesy. I also liked the fact that he wouldn't require payment unless I actually bought a house that he had found. Michael had enough knowledge about the real estate market that he was able to say straight off whether I should look to buy in certain areas or whether it was out of my price range.
Within a couple of weeks, Michael had investigated about 25 potential houses and had a short list for me to look at. He kept in regular contact during this period and let me know of his progress. Michael accompanied me on all of the inspections and was able to talk turkey with the real estate agents. He was able to advise me of the real market price for each property we looked at. One of the houses that Michael had short listed was a lovely house in Brunswick that had far more features that I had hoped for. It was to be auctioned a fortnight after we looked at it.
Part of Michael's service was to represent his clients at auction if asked. Even though I had been to many auctions, I was still a little bit apprehensive about bidding for my house. Before the bidding took place, Michael knew what my limits were and consulted with me during the auction process. At no stage did he make any assumptions about what I wanted to do. The end result being that he secured the house for me at a price that I was comfortable with.
At all times during our dealings I found Michael to be very informed, courteous and extremely helpful. I have already recommended Michael and his business to friends of mine and wouldn't hesitate doing so again. I also intend to utilise Michael's services when I start looking for an investment property in a year or so. I wish Michael and his business all the best for the future.
Regards,
Tracey Hanna
