Before you buy
The South Australian Government placed OneSteel, owner of the Whyalla Steelworks, into administration on 19 February 2025, and its support site says the sale process for the steelworks has opened. Check where the sale stands before you buy.
The Stormwater Management Authority says flooding in the January-February 2022 storm matched the mapping in the 2019 Whyalla Stormwater Management Plan, and that the town's northern levee protected Whyalla from the worst of it. Ask the council about flooding for the address.
State Heritage Places with Whyalla addresses include the Spencer Hotel and the Bay View Hotel on Forsyth Street, the courthouse on Whitehead Street and the gun emplacements on Hummock Hill.
Adelaide Metro's Whyalla Township Route 1 starts on Darling Terrace by the post office, and Stateliner coaches run to Adelaide from the terminal at Moran Street and Cartledge Avenue. Whyalla Town Primary School is on Walls Street.
South Australia's Consumer and Business Services bond data for the April to June 2026 quarter puts the median weekly rent for a new Whyalla tenancy at $455 for a house, from about 25 bonds, and $300 for a flat or unit, from about 10 bonds.
